What we have here is an original early 1920's New York Whirlwinds game used, game worn jersey of one of the great teams in early Pro Basketball history! This belongs in the Hall of Fame. On this team were Hall of Famers Nat Holman, Barney Sedran, and Max Friedman---members of the best league teams in the East. In the early 1920's they did not have numbers on the back and as such, this jersey does not, either. The Whirlwinds were organized by Tex Rickard to play at Madison Square Garden and were an immediate rival to the Original New York Celtics. When the two teams played each other they set attendance records! In fact, some of the Whirlwinds players would later play, themselves, for the Original Celtics. As a major collector of pre-NBA Pro Basketball, I have researched this jersey at length and found the pictured photo of the 1920-21 New York Whirlwinds from the Basketball Hall of Fame. It appears to be the same style. On this jersey, note the Spalding cloth label, properly tagged for the era. I am selling this one only because I have another for my own collection.
